Cerberus, also known as Kerberos, is a monstrous multi-headed dog from Greek mythology. It is often depicted with three heads, a serpent's tail, and a mane of snakes. Cerberus guards the gates of the Underworld, preventing the dead from leaving and the living from entering. In some accounts, Cerberus is described as having 50 or even 100 heads, but the three-headed version is the most commonly depicted in art and literature. The creature is famously associated with the Twelve Labours of Heracles (Hercules), where Heracles is tasked with capturing Cerberus as part of his labours.
And now you can own your own Cerberus.
Engenious Designs now offer a new UV torch with three heads: Shortwave (255nm), Midwave (310nm), and Longwave (365nm).
I pre-ordered. Mine arrived this week. It is quite powerful. The only issue that I had is that I purchased my lithium batteries locally. But the ones that I got weren’t right. A trap for the unwary. I didn’t know that there were different types. You need the “Button Head” type. New batteries are on their way! I managed to MacGyver* the ones that I had in order to test the torch, but it also works without batteries if connected to a power source via a USB cable!
* The term "MacGyver" refers to a character from the television series of the same name, which aired from 1985 to 1992. Angus MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson, is known for his resourcefulness and ability to solve complex problems using everyday items in unconventional ways. The character is a secret agent who prefers non-violent resolutions and often uses his knowledge of science and engineering to create makeshift solutions.
The term "MacGyver" has also entered popular culture as a verb, "to MacGyver," meaning to fix, repair, or jury-rig something in a creative and resourceful way, often using limited resources. It's synonymous with ingenuity and improvisation.
