Mineral Matters Number 400! Yay!
After seeing the UV response on yesterday’s Mineral Matters, I thought I had better take a photo before I put the specimen away and forgot about it!
The colour intensity in parts of the spherical fluorite almost look like an attempt to form cube faces. Or is it just my imagination! 😕
There is also another mineral just left of the fluorite that is responding with a bluish-white fluorescence. That will, I’m afraid, remain part of the Hidden Collection. I can’t see me being able to get an identification.
As an aside, I referenced fluomin.org the other day. Unfortunately the site, which is very useful, was hacked some time ago, and the website owners do not appear to have been successful in reinstating it.
Fortunately, from a historical perspective, it has been crawled by archive.org. So the information is generally available here.
