Gmelinite-Ca from Kazakhstan

The city of Rudny (Рудный, meaning "ore-bearing" or "mining" in Russian) in the Kostanay Region of Kazakhstan was founded in 1957. Its entire existence is owed to the discovery and development of the massive iron ore deposits in the area, primarily the Sokolovskoe and Sarbaiskoe deposits.
The Sokolovskoe magnetite deposit was discovered in 1949 by pilot Mikhail Grigorievich Surgutanov, who noticed unusual behaviour in his compass while flying over the area.
It is operated by the Sokolov-Sarbai Mining Production Association (SSGPO), which is now part of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG). SSGPO is one of the largest iron ore mining and processing enterprises in the CIS. It is primarily an open-pit mine, one of the largest in the region.
The Sokolovskoe deposit is a large skarn-type iron ore deposit. Skarns are metasomatic rocks formed by the interaction of magmatic fluids (from intruding igneous rocks, often granitic) with carbonate country rocks (like limestone or dolostone). This process results in a complex suite of calcium-magnesium-iron silicate minerals, along with ore minerals. The main ore mineral is magnetite (Fe₃O₄). Hematite is also present.
However, there were a few zeolite minerals also recorded: analcime, chabazite, gmelinite, heulandite, laumontite, natrolite, scolecite, stellerite and stilbite. These probably formed during late-stage, low-temperature hydrothermal activity, filling fractures and vugs within the skarn rocks and altered volcanics.
