More Hyalite Opal
Mineral Matters #167
Another hyalite opal for this week’s Facebook Mineral of the Week Group’s selected theme of Minerals that Look Like Something Else.
And another local one, coming from about 10km from where I live.
So what does this one conjure up? A pipe? A light globe? A fruiting body (like fungi)? Or something else?
Let me know what you think in the comments!
Below: Hyalite Opal, Miners Rest Quarry, Miners Rest, City of Ballarat, Victoria. Width of view 3.5mm.

More like an ice version of a stalagmite from where we are at moment, snowed up Cumbria, UK.
I can see dome sort of fish in a bowl.
