As I mentioned yesterday, all of the specimens from Pittong are in quartz. The orebody was essentially a quartz reef. One of the species present as crystals (but not that common) is quartz itself.
As the Mineral of the Week Facebook Group current alternate theme is quartz, I thought I’d share one that I collected on the weekend.
Some people think that quartz is boring, but I don’t subscribe to that. Individual quartz crystals with their hexagonal shape can be quite aesthetic. And of course, there are surface textures (such as on this one), inclusions, and various habits, including twins.
And to top that all off, there are elements here of the Hidden Collection! This specimen has a few isolated crystals of dravite tourmaline when you look closely.
And yes, I know that it needs a bit of cleaning! But it is a better specimen than yesterday’s! 😆

I agree, quartz is not boring at all!
