It’s that time of the year. And this week’s Facebook Mineral of the Week Group’s selected theme is minerals that evoke that seasonal holiday feeling for you.

I photographed a Broken Hill smithsonite the other day (first photo, 9mm wide). On it was a spessartine garnet that had the appearance of a face (there goes that pareidolia again!).

It needed a bit of a tweak to show it off (see second photo), and then I thought why not turn it into a Grinch using Procreate (third photo)!
